This is a recipe to make homemade taco seasoning, yes the little envelopes you buy at the grocery store. I bet most people will be able to find the spices needed for this recipe in their spice rack. So if you found this recipe because you’re trying to make dinner and you forgot to buy taco seasoning, you’re in luck. I can save you a trip to the store.
If you’re reading this recipe because you want to make your own taco seasoning, that’s great too. If you like it, fantastic but as with all other recipes you can tweak it a little bit. You can add a little more or less salt, maybe you want more oregano or garlic powder. If you really like spicy food like me and you want some heat you can add a 1/4 teaspoon of red pepper flakes.
This Homemade Taco Seasoning recipe will make about the same quantity found in an envelope of taco seasoning, the stuff you’ll never buy again. This is enough seasoning for a pound of meat, but like I said before you can use more or less depending on your preference. Me personally, when cooking for my family I’ll use half of this recipe for a pound of meat.
So, this is probably the easiest recipe to make on this website. I gathered the spices, and mixed them into a small bowl. Finally I transferred them to my spice shaker. My spice shaker is what you see at a pizza restaurant with Parmesan cheese and flaked red pepper. This is something I like to use when I’m cooking meat in a skillet and I have a combination of spices. In my opinion the food gets more evenly seasoned when using a spice shaker.
This is the spice shaker I use and am really happy with it. I use it for taco seasoning or any other combination of spices, sometimes when you’re grilling a steak of chicken it’s nice to have your spices in one container to sprinkle on your food.
