In the summer I like to grill at least once a week and I always include a vegetable with dinner. What would go well with grilled pork chops or sausage? Cabbage!
Of course it seems nowadays bacon makes everything just a little more delicious, so why not; let’s wrap that cabbage in bacon.
What’s really nice about this recipe is that it’s simple and easy to prepare. I made Bacon Wrapped Grilled Cabbage this past summer when the family and I were on vacation, staying in a cabin at Cedar Point, Ohio. Our neighbors were a bunch of twenty-one year old kids eating hot dogs for dinner watching closely at what I was grilling every night. I was able to make this with very limited space and minimal kitchen utensils.
I haven’t gone camping since I was in college, but I think this would be something that could easily be cooked in a campfire. Of course this recipe can be done in the oven too. The last time I made it was in December and I didn’t feel like going outside in the cold.
One trick I do with this recipe that I do often when using a mixture of seasoning like this recipe calls for is that I put the salt, pepper, garlic powder, and cheese into my spice shaker, give it a good shake to mix the seasoning, and then sprinkle it on the cabbage. This trick works perfectly for when making Taco Seasoning, as well.
An alternative to grilling this cabbage is baking in a 400F oven.
This is the spice shaker I use and am really happy with it. I use it for taco seasoning or any other combination of spices, sometimes when you’re grilling a steak of chicken it’s nice to have your spices in one container to sprinkle on your food.
